Final Fantasy XIV Online is going new places with the news about the upcoming Dawntrail Expansion.
While many people might take a passing glance at Final Fantasy XIV Online and just see bunny men and Chocobos, more than 30 million players might disagree. There’s tons to this huge online adventure, and it’s about to get bigger. During the recent Tokyo Fanfest event, Square confirmed that the Dawntrail expansion is coming in 2024 with a ton of new content.
Fans looking for more from the fifth expansion pack will get limited and fully feature Jobs, a new playable race, more raids, lifestyle content, dungeons, and a mysterious new city to explore. The frontier is set to expand in summer 2024 when players arrive in Solution Nine, a brand-new city built by a mysterious civilization. The new architecture and unusual facades provide a refreshing change to a new region that they can explore.
A new limited job and fully featured Job will drop in Dawntrail too. The Pictomancer works in the medium of mixed aether, wielding a specialised brush to render their imaginings reality. These creations include not only creatures and weapons, but landscapes as well. It’s a genuinely interesting take on an artist in combat, which makes itself distinct form the bard archetype. Additionally, we have confirmation that the Beastmaster limited Job is incoming too.
There’s a new playable race, the Female Hrothgar. This is probably one of the most anticipated bits of FFXIV news, seeing as the male version of this race is already in game. The Hrothgar people hail from Ilsabard. A Turali people with shared ancestry, The Xbr’aal, call Yak T’el home. These feline warriors stand proud on the battlefield and will unlock as they expansion rolls into view.
Of course, expansions mean new content and new Ultimate Raids, Raids, and Dungeons are expected. A trailer giving an overview is available, above. Once you’re done with these, there’s still new Field Operations “The Forbidden Land, Eureka” and “Save the Queen” to take on.
All this news adds to what we already know. Before all that drops, we’re still preparing to leap into the Patch 6.55,. After trying out this month’s updates updates, including the continuation of the main scenario in Growing Light – Part 2, a crossover with Final Fantasy XVI is due for April. Finally, Xbox owners will be able to enjoy the Open Beta Test of the Xbox Series X|S version of Final Fantasy XIV online soon.
