League of Legends Shared the Latest Dev Update: Gameplay, Vanguard & More

The League of Legends team from Riot Games shared the latest dev update video. Join Jeremy “Riot Brightmoon” Lee, Pu “Riot Pupulasers” Liu and Matthew “Riot Phroxzon” Leung-Harrison as they discuss gameplay, bug fixes, Vanguard, Prestige skins, Crystalis Indomitus, and more.

Last year, Riot made the decision to move away from Preseason. The team is happy with this change and the shift of gameplay changes to line up with the start of the new ranked Season. It gave players some additional time to hit their goals as well as made the beginning of the year a more exciting time to play League. The team is happy with the state of gameplay balance, game stability, and the new objectives.

While many changes were well-received, item changes led to burst damage becoming a bit too powerful. The team has taken steps to address this and aims to scale damage back down to its levels following the Durability Update.

League is getting its version of Vanguard that will be customized to specifically target cheaters, scripters, and bots in-game. The system will first be rolled out in one region, allowing the team to carefully observe how the system is impacting players.

The new Intro, Beginner, and Intermediate bots will be out in March. You can learn more about them from the special dev blog on the official site.

The developers also gave a quick update on the upcoming Prestige skins. After Evelyn and Kayle get theirs, it will be Yuumi and Leona getting the glow-up in July.

The next Mythic Theme, Crystalis Indomitus, arrives in March. It is a continuation of the Crystalis Modus theme, which got spotlight in the dev blog. Kha’zix (March), Xerath (June) and Nautilus (August) will be receiving some love this time around.

“As part of the shared Alternate Universe of “Magicae Prismatica,” Crystalis Indomitus explores the twisted half of Crystalis Motus: the untamed wilds to the north of civilization. There, creatures do not wield the crystals, but are wielded by it, fully consumed by its power, with hardly a memory of their past life. Their only desire: to spread their crystalline corruption. All of civilization (the various factions of Crystalis Motus) fears their approach and prepares for the war that is to come.”
