Lord of the Rings Ditches Mordor for Tales of the Shire

Tales of the Shire will soon give PC and console players a chance to relax in Middle Earth.

Forget epic battles at the end of the world. Come in have a second breakfast and relax in the Shire. Private Division and Wētā Workshop just announced a new cosy adventure in the calmest corner of middle Earth, Tales of the Shire. Coming to PC and console platforms in 2024, this new take on potato farming hasn’t given us much to go on, but we do have a teaser trailer for anybody not interested in clambering up Mount Doom.

Inspired by the iconic books and writing J.R.R. Tolkien, this new take on the fantasy classic doesn’t even have more than some concept art. If it’s anything like Story of Seasons or Sprout Valley then I’d expect farming, food, and friendship without any Nazgûl. If you’re as interested as we are in this laid back twist on Tolkien’s realm, then head over to the Tales of the Shire website to keep an eye out for more.
