Following the teaser shared in June, Netflix is back with the official trailer for the upcoming live-action adaptation of One Piece. The events of the series follow the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy, the protagonist of the manga written by Eiichiro Oda. Free Yourselves. Take to the Seas. The Journey to find the ONE PIECE begins August 31.
“ONE PIECE is a legendary high-seas quest unlike any other. Luffy is a young adventurer who has longed for a life of freedom ever since he can remember. He sets off from his small village on a perilous journey to find the legendary fabled treasure, ONE PIECE, to become King of the Pirates!”
However, one cannot simply become the King of the Pirates all on their lonesome. To see his quest come to fruition, Luffy needs the help of a loyal crew. Through his adventures, he will encounter many unique characters and forge life-long friendship with some of them.
The Straw Hat Pirates include but are not limited to:
- Iñaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy, the protagonist of the show and a young man that dreams to find the mythical “One Piece” and become the King of the Pirates;
- Mackenyu as Roronoa Zoro, a master swordsman that follows the Santoryu style and an accomplished bounty hunter;
- Emily Rudd as Nami, an enigmatic thief that is looking for a way to the Grand Line;
- Jacob Romero Gibson as Usopp, boisterous marksman;
- Taz Skylar as Sanji, charming master chef.
