Developer Blizzard Entertainment rolled out a new trailer for free-to-play hero shooter Overwatch 2. Titled ‘Heroes Can’, it shows two teams of heroes facing off against one another and flexing their skills.
“Overwatch 2 is a free-to-play shooter featuring 30+ epic heroes, each with game-changing abilities. Choose your hero, group up with your friends and battle across all-new maps and modes in the ultimate team-based shooter.”
The developers have also reminded players of the launch of Overwatch 2: Invasion, coming August 10. There will also be an animated short titled ‘Calling’ that will serve as the final story beat that will lead up to Null Sector’s invasion and Overwatch’s response.
Speaking of Null Sector and Omnics, Blizzard has released a three episodes long animated series dedicated to the event known as the Awakening. The crucial moment in the story of Overwatch that showed how Omnics gained their sentience. You can watch Genesis here.
Last but not least, the team also kicked off a brand new summer event. Mischief & Magic is a “prop-hunt” style mode consisting of two teams of five taking turns hiding from the knights or seeking out the rogues. In order to win the round, the rogues must avoid being caught and tagged by the knights before time runs out. On the other side, the knights must find all five rogues before time expires to score. Teams swap sides every round, and the first team to three wins is the victor.
