Square Enix has finally revealed the true name of Project Athia, a new IP currently underway at Luminous Productions. Called Forspoken, the game will be coming to PlayStation 5 and PC in 2022. The game’s name was announced with a brand new trailer that showcases a smattering of gameplay that includes the lead character, Frey, zipping through the game world and using what appears to be some type of nature magic both offensively and defensively.
Ella Balinska narrates the trailer as the voice and motion capture artist behind Frey Holland. She provides a peek into the game’s world. Balinska tells viewers that the game is a brand new IP from Square Enix and Luminous Productions about a young woman in a beautiful but threatening world.
In Forspoken, you’ll play the role of Frey, as she enters Athia for the first time. This new land is stunningly beautiful, but also cruel and deadly.
“As the first video game I’ve worked on, it’s remarkable to see the incredible world and story of Forspoken come together, blurring the lines between reality and fantasy,” said Balinska.
“Frey as a character is real, she’s raw, she’s a girl who lost her way – both figuratively and literally – and is a character I immediately connected with, as I feel many people around the world will too when they set off on this adventure.”
