In the midst of celebrating its 40th year in the video game industry, developer SUNSOFT rolls out its 2.0 update for Playstation VR-based mobile battle arena, Dark Eclipse.
If you aren’t familiar with Dark Eclipse, check out the trailer here:
The 2.0 update for Dark Eclipse will introduce a Ranked Mode with leaderboards to compare your skills with players from across the globe. This update will also bring some finer tuning to skill-based matchmaking. As an added pursuit, players who own four Dominators and two Heroes who achieve a Gold ranking through the new Ranked Mode will unlock cosmetic hand-skins exclusive to the rank.
“Our passionate community already knows there’s still nothing else quite like DARK ECLIPSE in VR right now, and we want to continue providing tools like Ranked Mode to keep our VR MOBA as fresh as possible. As MOBAs are an inherently competitive genre, the focus of this major update is to further foster and enhance competition in DARK ECLIPSE by allowing players to see how they stack up against other dedicated fans with our global leaderboard.” – Shohei Sakakibara, Producer and Project Leader at SUNSOFT
In edition to Ranked Play, Dark Eclipse 2.0 adds three new playable characters, each with unique skills to bring to the fields of battle. Zahina is a carry Hero who can heal her party and control spaces through area of effect damage. Destrophe is a tank of a Dominator who passively increases attack power with abilities to stun foes at range. Dosmelda is a highly mobile assassin Dominator who can warp in and out of combat and confusing enemies to gain the upper hand for quick strike-and-retreat encounters.
Dark Eclipse is free to download from the Playstation 4 store and is rated T for Teen.
