Developers from Bluepoch Games excitedly announced that Reverse: 1999 has had more than 19 million downloads worldwide since its launch in October 2023. The first phase of the update “Journey to Mor Pankh” introduced players to Kaalaa Baunaa, a stargazer that searches for answers in the skies. The second phase arrives today with a former hermit arcanist Shamane. He lives in solitude, hearing bells echoing in the valley. Check out the trailer above to see what this new character is all about.
“As he fell into the abyss, he became lost in the ashes, thorns and his own memories. Seeking pain like an endless gale howling against rugged stone. And now, as snow begins melting into streams, which thunders down into the valley like music, he will choose to embrace nature with feet firmly planted on the ground.”
Shamane may appear unsophisticated at first glance, but in actuality has experienced enough in life to make him a wise man. After suffering a family tragedy, he isolated himself in the snowy mountains for what felt like forever. But the once untouchable wound has healed. Years of metaphysical meditation have finally allowed Shamane to find righteousness.
Reverse: 1999 Update 1.3 Phase Two features include:
- Shamane Banner: Players can summon Shamane in the new banner “Another Spring Thaw”.
- Shamane Character Story Event: The “Bells Echoing in the Valley” story event reveals Shamane’s difficult journey, a story of the past, about farewells, cycles and renewal.
- Shamane’s Left Arm Event: Former hermit Shamane has a pretty nifty prosthetic left arm. Unfortunately, sometimes it doesn’t function as intended. Ignite the pine branches, play the divine drum, and listen to the language of beasts. Shamane’s left arm will be as firm as a tree and agile as an ape in no time.
- Mysterious Waves Event: A momentary disturbance in the ionosphere brought about a fortunate encounter with mysterious waves. A greeting that spans across time and clouds reaches out towards you and a friend destined to be known sends their regards.
About Reverse: 1999
It was 23:59. December 31, 1999. Out of the gap between the two centuries, a “Storm” poured upwards to the sky. The next second, all the parties, neon signs, and late night buses faded away. The world returned to a strange old era. This young girl, the “Timekeeper,” the only one immune to the Storm, has witnessed the beginnings and ends of countless eras. During her time travel, she makes friends with arcanists from different times and countries and then guides them … to escape the “Storm.”
