Rogue Legacy 2 Is Out Now

Rogue Legacy 2 is out now, ready to roll a brand new campaign on PC and Console.

No more early access testing for fans of the latest Rogue Legacy. Rogue legacy 2 launches into version 1.0 today and gets a general release across PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S today. After pushing plenty of eager adventurers out to their deaths between August 2020 and confirming a release was  imminent, developer Cellar Door games has capped this period off with a title that looks likely to surpass the original in every possible way.

Rogue Legacy 2 is more than just a sequel to our studio, it’s the culmination of all that we’ve learned over the last nine years since the release of the original. We’ve put everything we have into it, and knowing that fans both new and old alike will be experiencing it for the first time is incredibly humbling. We hope it brings the same sense of joy and discovery the original gave so many years ago – Cellar Door Games

Rogue Legacy 2 is still a solid metroidvania but includes an entirely new art style, that presents 3D characters against a set of hand drawn backdrops. This refines the presentation of this new quest, giving it a life of its own without losing the charming aesthetic that cemented the original experience. It’s more than just a new look and feel, however. There’s a whole cache of new abilities on offer for adventurers. While the Relic system adds unique items that change the way the game is played, a new Trait 2.0 lineup means that replays will be equally challenging when leveraging the new Game+ options.

New classes, new monsters, and even an improved accessibility system are just a few more of the changes that fans of the first Rogue Legacy can expect to see this time around. If you’ve not kept up with the verwhelmingly Positive over on Steam, then there’s a launch day trailer to tease you into picking up that sword, dying, then sending your children out to overcome the obstacles that you could not.

Rogue Legacy 2 is available now on Steam, Epic Games Store and Microsoft Store for $24.99 / £21.99 or local equivalent.

For those of you who I’ve not met yet, my name is Ed. After an early indoctrination into PC gaming, years adrift on the unwashed internet, running a successful guild, and testing video games, I turned my hand to writing about them. Now, you will find me squawking across a multitude of sites and even getting to play games now and then
