League of Legends Season 2023 is about to open the year with a bang, and Riot has dropped a ton of information about what’s coming to this massive MOBA.
Fans of the world’s most iconic MOBA are used to big changes on the battlefield and it looks like this year will be no different. Season 2023 kicks off today with a preview of everything that developer Riot has planned for the upcoming 12 months, and there’s a hefty amount to sift through, while the pros kick off their yearly campaigns. Like many years past, the start of this season marks the official beginning of the League of Legends Ranked and tournament season for pro and casual players. For those looking to rank right away, players can expect the following regards

There will, however be a Mid-Year Ranked Reset, and you’ll want to check out the brand new start of year Season Kickoff Event too. From January 10-11, the LCS, LEC, LCK, LPL, LJL, CBLOL, LLA, PCS, and VCS will host a special two-day broadcasted event previewing the 2023 season and highlighting the players to watch this year, giving fans a first look at Season 2023 on the Rift, and a peek at what’s in store for LoL Esports in 2023. This means fans will get to see the competitors in their best form from across the globe, before things heat up proper. This does replace the All-Stars Event that you might be used to seeing, but should shake up the calendar to give the new year a boost.
Ranking and Changes
For those that might not get drafted, the mid year rest is likely to have more impact on your year. This break of sorts is intended to make the stress of position decay and general burnout a much less problematic issue for player, and yes you can now earn full ranked rewards each Ranked Split.
Of course, anybody looking to compete will need to navigate the new champion changes. That means Ahri’s ASU,a major overhaul for Aurelion Sol, and more updates to the roster.
