Will Philips Reinvent The Rules Of Gaming With Evnia

Philips Monitors has just announced an entirely new line of gaming monitors, called Evnia.

Philips has announced a new gaming brand is coming to desktops and store shelves, with the reveal of Evnia. This new name marks significantly more than a singular monitor launch and looks to be the start of a new ecosystem for this monitor manufacturer. While Philips has traded on industrial design, moody colors, and more than a little RGB of late, the Evnia lineup is certainly a change of direction.

This refresh and reorientation is certainly clear in the very first of Evnia’s minotors. The Philips Evnia 34M2C7600MV is a 34 inch UltraWide display that crams in Quad HD 3440 x 1440 resolution and HDR1400. This might sound reasonably normal for a gaming monitor but step back beyond the panel and things do look distinctive. A white and grey color scheme backs up the 165Hz display with a mix of materials and a unique phased curvature that softens the traditional aggressive gaming edge of earlier Philips monitors. This new mix still stacks up with plenty of ports, mini-LED backlighting, and 1,152 zones for a dynamic backdrop in game. As you might expect from a Philips gaming display, this also plays host to a reinvented Ambiglow setup, with a prominent strip and peripheral LEDs set into the rear of this option. If you’re wondering how it might look, check out our review of the Momentum 27M1RV series Ambiglow.

The 34M2C7600MV isn’t the only monitor to bear the Evnia branding. The flat panel 42M2N8900 and the 34M2C8600 curved QD OLED are due to arrive after the 34M2C7600MV. The 42M2N8900 is an OLED flat panel with a mammoth amount of screen estate, perfect for anybody who uses their front room for gaming. The 27M2C5500W is the final display to join this new brand and is a mid range 27 inch VA display that should appeal to anybody still paying off their new 4090 GPU.

With a slightly less gloomy approach to all things gaming, owners of the new Evnia range will benefit from a range of accessories. Coming in two tiers, these new headsets, keyboards, and mice give owners a mix of high spec wireless, wired, and fully RGB accessories that should set off interior design. The two keyboards (SPK8508 and SPK8708), two mice (SPK9508 and SPK9708), two headsets (TAG5208 and TAG7208), and one mouse pad (SPL7508) are all due to land on desktops in June 2023.

A New Vision

Looking at the Evnia range for the first time, Philips certainly seems to be trying to pivot away from traditional gaming expectations. Coupling new designs and light color schemes is an inclusive brand ethos. Philips state that

“The word Evnia (Greek: Εύνοια) consists of eu (good) and nous (mind), which literally means “well mind” and “smart thinking”. Evnia is used as a word to show interest to support and protect someone or something. It’s often used in the context of luck. Everyone can be a gamer, and Evnia, true to the name, supports the joy of gaming for all.”

The team behind this launch also has Sylvia Gathoni AKA @thequeenarrow98 as a front face of their campaign to provide something a little different in the market.

While Evnia may be different, it isn’t cheap. The Philips Evnia 34M2C7600MV launches on December 2022 at the price of £1,599.99. The remaining displays will go live during January 2023., ranging from £1,569.99 down to £459.99. To get more information on the full range, head over to the official website now.
