My Dearest has announced that the Brazen Blaze Beta is live across SteamVR and Meta Quest.
Brazen Blaze, an intense new 3v3 action brawler that lets you annihilate friends in VR is due to launch later this year on SteamVR and Meta Quest platforms, but you can throw a few early punches. VR studio MyDearest has announced that the Open Betas for this bout of close-quarter melee combat has begun. Players looking to try out the upcoming arena can register now and duke it out right up until close of play on the 12 February 2024.
Developed by the minds behind “Dyschronia: Chronos Alternate” and “Tokyo Chronos,” this title is an action-packed mix of platforming superpowers and melee combat. Think a little bit Smash Bros and a little bit Fortnite in VR and you’re about there. The fast-paced pugilism features a variety of unique characters, each with their own skills, ultimate’s, and weapons to wield. While they all have their own look and backstory, the most compelling part of the battle is their overpowered abilities.
Almost everything in an arena is destructible, meaning fast paced 5–10-minute matches are awash with chaos. The opening map, set in New York City can be bought down in minutes, while you’re trying to actually take down the opposing team. Mixing wide ranging freedom of movement, some exaggerated action powers, and a close quarters combat system, Brazen Blaze is unexpectedly enjoyable. We’ve already had hands on time at Gamescom 2023 and I cannot ever imagine another time I’ve had so much fun trying to punch a hole through a booth wall.
Beta Rewards
If our moment of unintended aggression isn’t enough to convince you that it’s worth picking up your headset, then testers will also receive rewards for their time. Two new characters drop into the Open Beta stage. Velvet and Sunshine. Join the current three-character roster., meaning Riot, Legacy, and Skybolt have some new targets. Celebrity actress Velvet is a speed-type character wielding a katana, and is determined to cut her way to fame. Sunshine is a war robot who decided to pivot his career to become a comedian. Sunshine uses bombs as his main weapon.
In addition, anybody who registers for the open beta, running now until its conclusion on February 12th, will receive exclusive promotional items, including in-game currency Hazen Gems and other unique items upon the official game launch.
