Call of the Wild: The Angler

Expansive Worlds has announced that Call of the Wild: The Angler is now available for PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. The Steam version is offering players who own theHunter: Call of the Wild a 25% “loyalty discount”. In celebration of the momentous event, the development team sent out a brand new trailer to showcase the features and environments in the game.

About Call of the Wild: The Angler

As is obvious from the trailer and name, the game puts players in the waders of a fisherman on a quest to find the perfect fishing spot. The game provides players with elements of other genres including roleplaying, driving, base building, and more. Players can even take to the waters in boats of all types. The goal is to search through the vast open world to find the perfect place to cast a hook. Players can explore using boat, off-road vehicles, or simply by walking the gorgeous and varied biomes. “Discover turquoise-colored springs, majestic alpine peaks, hidden ponds, as well as charming outposts.” While fishing is the centerpiece, it is by no means the totality of the game. Players can fish or just kick back in their favorite spot. It’s that vacation everyone dreams of but seldom has time for.

As mentioned, fishing is the ultimate purpose of the game. Players will be able to discover and battle a variety of unique species in authentic locations. Each fish has its own traits and behaviors. It’s up to the angler to find the right bait, fishing rod, and time of day to bring up the most elusive fish. Fish are spawned realistically based on water depth, temperature, altitude, and more.

Along the way, players will be able to purchase new gear and fishing rigs that offer a selection of rods, reels, lures, hooks, floats, and jigheads. Each fisherman can be customized to suite a player’s wishes in a variety of ways such as look and attributes. There are challenges to take on all wrapped in a story that will send players wandering throughout the game.
