Darkest Dungeon II's Quality of Life Update Deployed

Red Hook Studios has announced the deployment of Darkest Dungeon II’s latest update, this time falling on the side of quality-of-life improvements. The update was developed utilizing community feedback during the beta phase of development. Feedback was integral to tweak and refine several game features.

Notable QoL improvements

  • Monster Death Armor: Developers have introduced an entirely new mechanic for how monsters deal with Death’s Door. The system has been retooled so death protection for monsters is “token rather than resistance percentage-based.” According to the team, this should reduce the likelihood that monsters will defy all odds and survive endless blows.
  • Swap Heroes at the Inn: This is a much-requested feature from the community. This allows players to better strategize for upcoming regions and to create a more dynamic party state. It will cost a nominal amount of currency but will refund any mastery points spent on those characters. This allows player to respec their heroes.
  • Choosing Hero Replacement at the Inn: This is another feature added due to player feedback. When players arrive at the Inn after losing a hero, they can pick which available replacement hero to bring to the party.
  • Factions are Back in Road Battles: Factions have been brought back to road battles for more variety to routes and for an extra challenge for hearty souls.
