Red Hook Games has announced that Darkest Dungeon 2 is coming to PC via Steam and Epic Games Store on May 8, 2023. The sequel to the smash 2016 hit has been in early access for nearly eighteen months. A new demo will offer players a peek at the game’s earliest levels. It is now available on both EGS and Steam.
The demo will allow players to take the four starting heroes through one entire region. Along the way, players are challenged to contend with enemy factions and the rigors of survival. Players can explore either Sprawl (city) or the Foetor (farms). However, fans must be advised that no progression will be saved between expeditions in the demo. The full version of the game will feature a dozen playable heroes, five full regions, five end bosses, and a metagame hub with extensive, persistent upgrades.
DD2 has been in early access on EGS since last 2021. Over the intervening months, developers have released a regular cadence of major content updates. Gameplay features expand on the concepts first explored in the first game. Players will be treated to “striking 3D visuals and a new run-based road trip structure.” The latter streamlines the entire experience without any alteration in complexity.
