Developer Matrioshka Games and publisher Wandering Wizard have announced Expedition Agartha – a hardcore multiplayer first-person survival sim, coming soon to Steam Early Access.
The developers expect the game to stay in the Early Access for one to two years. The system will allow the team to balance gameplay and receive player feedback as the updates to Expedition Agartha will keep arriving, bringing in new enemy types, player progression mechanics and more.
“For early access, progression will be centered around gaining game knowledge, completing quests, and getting better equipment to become the strongest. By Full release we would like to have more specific player progression systems such as a skill tree that allows diversification of builds. Character customization is quite limited in early access launch, with just the basic amount of options, but by full release, we also plan to have more character options, such as more faces, more hairs, more armor sets, etc. Ultimately, we plan to have a polished PvPvE first person melee combat experience by early access launch to prove to players we can build this type of game, and then we will really start fleshing out the deeper worldbuilding and special additional side content of the game.”
In Expedition Agartha, players set out to find the legendary Kingdom of Agartha, hidden to the world since time immemorial. Empires have risen and fallen since the ages of Atlantis and Lemuria, and in all this time, the true nature of this fabled land has yet to reveal itself. Expedition Agartha is a first person medieval PvPvE experience. Explorers and Mercenaries from around the world find themselves on a mysterious island in the Lost Continent of Mu. In the depths of the earth, the Secrets of Agartha wait to be discovered.
Players can launch expeditions solo or with up to two other friends to fight across the island, filled with danger and loot. It is up to you to ruthlessly hunt down other players or build alliances to survive together.
