Ghost Recon Wildlands gets an 8-player free-for-all mode

Ghost Recon Wildlands Mercenaries

Ghost Recon Wildlands may not be the top dog in the franchise any more thanks to the imminent arrival of Breakpoint, but Ubisoft isn’t done with it yet. Just yesterday, Ubi revealed a brand new, free-to-all game mode called Mercenaries. It is, however, the final update for Wildlands, but it’s a doozy!

Mercenaries features eight players taking part in a “free-for-all PvPvE game mode”. Think of a pseudo-battle royale mode. Players are dropped onto the game map and work (carefully…) to collect equipment and items to help them stay alive. Players will look for weapons, armor, and consumables. Once done, the goal is to find the extraction point and stay alive long enough to get there. The clincher is that players will not only be fighting amongst themselves but will also have NPC enemies to deal with as well.

Those who complete a Mercenaries match will receive the “Lone Wolf” costume that has ties to Breakpoint coming later this year. Ubi has said that a number of challenges will be presented to Mercenaries players throughout the coming months. These challenges will give players a chance to unlock items in Breakpoint.

Look for the Mercenaries update later today for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
