The release of the long-awaited remaster of the Mass Effect trilogy took the Internet by storm: three beloved titles from Bioware, all available in one package on PC and current-gen consoles with updated graphics, what else could you ask for?
Well… Mass Effect 3 Legendary Edition multiplayer, of course, and a number of mods already available for the base games. Fans worked hard to restore content, fix bugs and change up gameplay for the trilogy.
With the Legendary Edition out for a while, the community already created a bunch of new additions and ported the beloved mods from the base trilogy. Without further ado, check the list below to calibrate your latest playthrough!
Trilogy-wide:
Trilogy Save Editor
Don’t want to explore all the planets in Mass Effect 1, but the writings of Matriarch Delinaga and all those Turian emblems won’t leave your mind? Missed a side quest with the Consort, Dantius sisters or want to save Fist’s life to see how it affects ME2?
Trilogy Save Editor allows you to change up your saved files to change your choices and add things you have missed.
A Lot of Textures (ALOT)
ALOT started as a visual upgrade to the original Mass Effect trilogy and some of its many textures remain superior even to those of the Legendary Edition. Additionally, the original ALOT’s Improved Static Lighting (ISL) component was remade and vastly improved upon for the LE. ISL fixes Legendary Edition’s blocky shadows by running the textures through a state-of-the-art, neural network-based denoising, antialiasing and upscaling process for about 40,000 light and shadow maps across the trilogy.
A Lot of Videos (ALOV)
ALOV remasters the prerendered cutscenes. It is an exhaustive and comprehensive 4K 60fps video overhaul project powered by AI and augmented with faithful in-game remakes, error corrections and other misc improvements.
Check out the project’s page by following the link above to learn more about the team’s process and the changes the mod adds to the Legendary Edition.
Mass Effect 1:
Pinnacle Station DLC
Mass Effect Legendary Edition: Pinnacle Station is an enhanced port of the original Pinnacle Station DLC, which was not included in the Legendary Edition due to lost and corrupted source code.
The ME3Tweaks group has ported this DLC across from the original game, while remastering it in the same vein as the Legendary Edition and fixing numerous issues. This is the complete DLC: Pinnacle Station including all simulator maps. No content was cut for this port.
LE1 COMMUNITY PATCH
LE1 Community Patch is a bugfix mod for Mass Effect 1 in the Legendary Edition. A spiritual successor to ME1Recalibrated, this mod makes small edits to fix bugs, and fix bugs only.
Follow the link above to visit the mod’s page and see the full list of changes made.
Galaxy Map Trackers
This mod allows you to track active and undiscovered UNC assignments on the galaxy map. Active assignments will usually have the same name as in your journal while the undiscovered assignments are tracked as “Anomaly”.
Skip Minigames
You might consider it cheating, but let’s face it: by the end of the game you’re slapping omni-gel onto everything anyway. A few unique instances of minigames may not be affected by the mod.
Charted Worlds
This mod marks the location of mineral deposits and other points of interest on the UNC world maps. Warning signs indicate probable locations of Thresher Maws.
Mass Effect 2:
One Probe All Resources
Scanning the planets in Mass Effect 2 (in Legendary Edition) will detect all resources and anomalies. A single probe will deplete all resources and make all anomalies available.
Skip Minigames for LE2
Skip Minigames for LE2 skips the hacking and bypass minigames, automatically providing you with a win. This mod does NOT modify the galaxy map probes; that is a different mod.
NO HEADGEAR FOR SQUADMATES
Have you ever wanted to dress your companions in their bulkier alternate armor only to change your decision once you see all those shiny visors? This mod removes or alters the headgear of those armors for your viewing pleasure.
ME2LE COMBAT REMASTERED
ME2LE Combat Remastered overhauls gunplay flow and balance: weapons are deadly and dependable, enemies behave more naturally, and initiative and movement on the battlefield is rewarded.
Mass Effect 3:
LE3 COMMUNITY PATCH
LE3 Community Patch is a comprehensive bug and continuity fix mod for Mass Effect 3 Legendary Edition.
EXPANDED GALAXY MOD
Expanded Galaxy Mod for the Legendary Edition introduces a few quality of life features from the EGM for ME3 ported over to LE3. Check out the installation section for instructions on how to get the mod to work.
SPECTRE EXPANSION MOD
The purpose of Spectre Expansion Mod is to improve the under used Shadow Broker and Spectre terminals, to give the player new difficult choices to consider via Spectre authorisations, to improve the presence of background races in ME3, to expand the galaxy map and provide clues to the battles happening beyond the scope of Shepard’s missions.
The mod is currently in its Beta stage.
TAKE EARTH BACK
Take Earth Back is an overhaul of the final mission of Mass Effect 3 (Priority: Earth) with the aim of representing the allies you have gathered over the course of the trilogy, fixing bugs and adding ambient immersive events. In addition, this is natively built to be compatible with story mods such as Expanded Galaxy Mod and Spectre Expansion Mod.
IMMERSIVE EMAILS
This mod takes all of the messages from the Bioware companion app for ME3 and inserts them into your game at key moments. The messages range from cute to heartbreaking to funny and are canon-compliant as they were written by Bioware.
ANDERSON FINAL CONVERSATION RESTORED
This mod restores cut content, extending the final conversation with Anderson. This mod is for English audio localisations of the game only, however it should function for users playing in English with subtitles in other languages.
AUDEMUS’ HAPPY ENDING MOD
AHEM is a rework of the ending to LE3, and a spiritual successor to the Happy Ending Mod. The primary focus of the mod is to allow Commander Shepard to survive the final mission, as well as provide satisfying closure to this incredible trilogy through tweaked cutscenes, edited videos, new ending slides, and an overhauled memorial scene.
And, once you’re done beating the trilogy for the first or the 50th time, perhaps it’s time for something new?
