Scar of the Doll developer Child-Dream has announced that this pioneering visual novel is now available in English via Steam.

After releasing a remake of classic horror narrative Scar of the Doll on Switch, the development team at Child Dream has just dropped an English language port of this reinvented title on Steam. Available now for a ridiculous discount of 75%, Scar of the Doll will only set back players a measly 990 Yen, barely more than a fancy coffee for a dip back into an influential title from a bygone era.

The psycho-suspense thriller follows protagonist Asumi Kamijo as she travels to Tokyo to find out why her older sister stopped calling. With no lines of communication and only a few clues to go on, it’s up to players to delve into this puzzle and find out what exactly is going on. The latest incarnation features a ream of new and remastered melodies thanks t composers Hiroyuki Oshima and Teruyasu Oishi. The characters are obviously reworked, and the horror elements can be de gored if needed.

Initially released in 1998, the inaugural version of this dark tale became an indie hit in its home territory of Japan. Since then, it came to be published in mystery magazines, and even appeared on Daiso shelves. A Switch version of this title appeared recently, and this is now the first chance for PC players that don’t have the original shareware floppies to get a taste of an early visual horror novels. Check out more on Scar of the Doll over on the official Steam store page now.
