Longterm Games has announced that Space Tail: Every Journey Leads Home will be coming to players on November 3rd. The game is a celebration of canine explorers everywhere. Further, it celebrates the 65th anniversary of the first dog’s journey into space. Developers are releasing the game for both PC and Nintendo Switch. Players are invited to wishlist the game ahead of its launch next month.
Space Tail features 2.5D platforming action. Players control Bea, a dog lost in space, trying to find her way back to Earth. Along the way home, she will encounter differnt species in the only way a dog can: Rolling, playing, barking, and more. She will make friends along the way and will even (unbelievably) irritate some aliens. But Bea will need all the help she can get. She’ll have to solve puzzles and explore the dangerous worlds she visits. Every dog’s sense will be needed to navigate maze-like planets on her way to finding her way back home.
Perhaps the best gameplay feature is the “PET” button that allows players to pet Bea at will.
Game features include:
- Be a space dog. – Bea is just an average dog, sent by humans to the unexplored vastness of space. As such, she possesses no superpowers and has to rely on what nature gave her – great hearing and smell, speed, and cunning to overcome obstacles.
- In space everyone can hear you bark.– Space Tail’s hero will also have to take over the hearts (or whatever organs they use) of aliens. Interacting by gestures and moves she can befriend other races (or irritate them). Their reactions are crucial to moving forward. Bea will also become friends with some untypical companions, who will assist her for a longer part of the journey.
- Diverse and complex biomes and puzzles. – Players enter a truly uncharted territory. Players will encounter new flora and fauna with each visited planet, traverse maze-like environments and solve tricky puzzles to progress further.
- A tribute to space exploration – Players will learn that real-life dog astronauts and cosmonauts didn’t have a happy life. Many were lost so mankind could reach the stars. Space Tail wants to show an optimistic and heartwarming tale of a dog that returned from its journey. The goal is to make players consider how much we owe to our four-legged friends.
