Under Cover grabs a light gun and unloads on Meta Quest VR.
Thunderful and Coatsink’s new announcement is going to blow you away, if you remember the 1990s. The publishers behind the likes of Last hero of Nostalgia and Jurassic World Aftermath just dropped a trailer for an explosive new VR shooter, titled Under Cover. Featuring nameless baddies, big robots, and an arsenal of projectile weaponry, this explosive new title feels familiar to this older millennial.
Paying homage to the likes of Time Crisis, this is a return to an earlier era and their lightgun cabinets. Without dropping us back in the sticky floors of the local arcade, this revives the thrilling action of gripping a neon blue gun and instead puts players right into the action. Cross a 6 hour campaign, you’ll follow Red-Eye or Magnum. These unusually forward undercover agents are on a quest to infiltrate an evil organisation called Infidyn.
In this case that means shooting everything that gets in their way. Polygons and bullets collide as players battle through a multitude of loud levels solo or with a partner. Developer Sigtrap has even managed to work in an active cover and reload system, ensuring that there’s at least some respite from the constant onslaught of electronic music, deadly drones, and cheesy one liners.
