Tommy, Angelica, and the rest of the crew are back with the reveal of The Rugrats: Adventures in Gameland.
Announced last night as part of The MIX showcase, The Rugrats: Adventures in Gameland is the return of a cartoon icon. Saturday morning and Nickelodeon television’s Rugrats are back as part of a new indie platformer, and it’s coming to Pc and consoles in 2024. This extremely unexpected news dropped as a trailer and looks likely to embody the cartoon series’ 90s roots.
Players joining the Rugrats on a new adventure will navigate a retro inspired platformer. Expect to power through high-speed chases, sneak around as a baby-stack trench coat, and destroy buildings on TV as Reptar. Plenty of familiar faces will return, including Tommy, Angelica, Cynthia and Spike, while us elder millennials revel in the TV nostalgia. For those that don’t remember 8-bit gaming, and HD mode will be available, so you’ll be able to see each of the themed levels in all its glory.
Whicher of the Rugrats kids you chose to play as, this old school adventure is likely going to delight those of us that remember a time before SpongeBob. You can have a glimpse of what’s coming in the trailer above, check out the official The Rugrats: Adventures in Gameland website, or even catch the demo at PAX West at the Limited Run booth (#1939 in the Summit Level 0 Expo).
