Total War Warhammer III gets the free Mirror of Madness DLC on 13 April 2023.
Whether ye be Human, Orge, Slaanesh, or Nurgle players busy conquering the fantasy land of Total War Warhammer III can peer into the Mirro of Madness at no extra charge next week. Creative Assembly has announced that anybody with a copy of this massive homage to the rest of the Warhammer series can grab a whole new update and two new game modes for no money down when it arrives in just over 7 days.
The new update comes after an announcement in Autumn 2022, this pair of new play styles will accompany the expansive version 3.0 update, coming into battle on the same day. While the patch notes for version 3.0 should keep you busy until the Thursday release, there’s some information available ahead of the changes.
Battle Time
Situated in the battle tab in the main menu, the two extra game mods are called Trials of Fate and Infinite portal. Trials of Fate is a series of intense survival challenges where players assume the role of a newly ascended Daemon Prince of Tzeentch. You’ll stretch back into the mists of time to take part in famous historical encounters, before breaking through into the Realm of Tzeentch and taking the fight to Kairos Fateweaver in one final confrontation. Like any good survival challenge, endless waves of increasingly strong enemies will haring you as the challenge continues. It’s up to you to command the legions and survive long enough to capture a point called the ‘Shard’ and unlock the incredible power through it.
Infinite Portal is a different take on Warhammer. Taking the traditional sandbox idea and turning it around, the Infinite portal provides access to reality-bending features and settings. This allows players to tweak battels as they please. The full list from Creative Assembly is below but suffice to say this modifier mode means that things will never quite be the same.
- Unit Size: Increases the number of soldiers per unit and their health
- Damage: Increases the damage dealt by attacks, spells, etc
- Impact Force: Increases collision impact, attack force and detonation force to send units flying
- Leadership: Increases base morale
- Winds of Magic: Increases the availability of Winds of Magic for spellcasting
- Explosions: Increases the size of explosions and vortex spells, improving their radius and detonation speed
- Vigour Cost Reduction: Increases the duration that units stay fresh, lowering the fatigue cost of actions
- Reload Time: Reduces the time it takes to reload ranged weapons
- Ammunition: Increases the total number of shots per ranged unit
- Projectile Penetration: Increases the distance projectiles can travel through enemies
- Gravity: Decreases the effect of gravity on units who are knocked into the air
- Ability Radius: Increase the effect radius of abilities
- Ability Recharge: Reduces ability recharge time
- Charge Duration: Increases the duration of the charge bonus
- Entity Scale: Increases or decreases the size of single unit entities like Lords and Monsters
- Blood Quantity: Increases or decreases the amount of blood emitted by entities emit
