Anthem to be “reimagined”, seasonal content discontinued for now

Anthem

The BioWare Blog has been updated with a new post from Studio Director Casey Hudson. In it, he addresses the elephant in the room or better known as the future of Anthem. “We have heard your feedback that Anthem needs a more satisfying loot experience, better long-term progression, and a more fulfilling end game.” Hudson wrote. To do that, he outlined several steps that the game will undergo in the coming months.

First, the game will remain in an “as-is” phase with all current content remaining. However, any further additions of seasonal content will be stopping in order to provide “a focused team” with the “time to test and iterate” on the company’s long-term goals.

“Over the coming months, we will be focusing on a longer-term redesign of the experience, specifically working to reinvent the core gameplay loop with clear goals, motivating challenges, and progression with meaningful rewards while preserving the fun of flying and fighting,” Hudson said.

Until the reinvented version of the game arrives, players can expect the events, store refreshes, and seasonal/cataclysm content to continue.

  1. Mass Effect: Andromeda was a decent — not great — game with fantastic gameplay elements. But they ditched it without giving it a chance to be expanded and “reimagined”. If only they had cared as much about a core company product as they do about this sub-par game.

    • I wish EA/Bioware at least released the Quarian Ark DLC. Oh well. Here’s hoping for Andromeda 2 at some point in the distant future – preferably after the trilogy remaster/remake 😀

  2. Question is, how many will wait that long to come back?

    • They may not wait but they will come back to check it out when it finally updates. FFXIV and No Mans Sky proved that.

  3. Looking forward to seeing how they correct where they think they went wrong!
