Clive ‘N’ Wrench Finally Crashes Onto PC and Console

Clive ‘N’ Wrench, a madcap 3D platformer brought to life by solo dev Rob Wass, is now causing chaos on PC and Console.

Clive ‘N’ Wrench arrived in a flurry of cartoon calamity earlier this week, bringing the long march to launch to an end for a pair of cartoon heroes. Available now on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch this blistering throwback to the heydays of Banjo Kazooie, Spyro, and other N64 era leading lights, this animated jaunt is likely to entertain fans who have been waiting on it for night on a decade.

When we use the term ‘anticipated’ it usually means an item has had a delay along the way. In this case, Rob has been whitling away on the title since 2011. Something of a long term vision, this work came after building Digital Extremes’ Unreal Tournament and creating entire towns in Rockstar’s GTA. Now it provides something of an entertaining nostalgia trip using modern systems to cause a bit of mischief along the way. Playing as the eponymous Clive ‘N’ Wrench, players picking up either the physical or digital release of this adventure can jump, roll, hover, and spin through a time, and space using a magical 1950’s refrigerator. While that sounds just as kooky as Sam & Max’s recently remade cases, this has its own charm. Along the way, these two will trundle through the prehistoric ice age in Iceceratops, clamber through ancient Egypt in Tempus Tombs, and visit the Wild West in 11 distinct levels. Each of these themed environments brings plenty of challenges, mobs, collectibles, and boss battles.

If you’re a fan of platforming without the crushingly hardcore slant of Cuphead, then this newly launched throwback is worth a look. Check out the trailer of the official website more on Clive ‘N’ Wrench.

For those of you who I’ve not met yet, my name is Ed. After an early indoctrination into PC gaming, years adrift on the unwashed internet, running a successful guild, and testing video games, I turned my hand to writing about them. Now, you will find me squawking across a multitude of sites and even getting to play games now and then
