CD Projekt RED, developers behind The Witcher series and Cyberpunk 2077 game, have announced the premiere date of the anime series Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. The show will be debuting on Netflix on September 13th, with all 10 episodes releasing at once.
To celebrate the occasion, the devs also shared a new adrenaline-pumping NSFW trailer. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners tells the story of David Martinez, a street kid trying to survive in a technology and body modification-obsessed city of the future. In the aftermath of a personal tragedy, David decides to take control of his own destiny by becoming an edgerunner — a mercenary outlaw also known as a cyberpunk.
The acclaimed Japanese animation company Studio Trigger collaborated with CD PROJEKT RED to bring the story to life, with Hiroyuki Imaishi (Gurren Lagann, Kill la Kill, Promare) directing the show. Yoh Yoshinari (Little Witch Academia, BNA: Brand New Animal) is the chief character designer as well as executive animation director. Masahiko Otsuka (Star Wars: Visions ‘The Elder’) and Yoshiki Usa (GRIDMAN UNIVERSE series) wrote the screenplay based on the story provided by CD PROJEKT RED. The original score is composed by Akira Yamaoka (Silent Hill series).
