During last weekend’s San Diego Comic-Con, Daybreak Games announced the Switch release date for DC Universe Online. Budding superheroes can look for the game on Nintendo Switch beginning August 6th. DCUO is, according to Daybreak, the first time that “players will be able to experience a true MMO on the Switch”.
Players will not be able to transfer existing characters from either the PC or PS4 version of the game. There will be no cross-play at launch either, though Daybreak said that it looks forward to “exploring crossplay options in the future”.
DCUO allows players to create their own unique superhero by choosing from as many as 300 different customization options. From there, it’s a quick trip to the game to visit iconic locations such as Gotham City, Metropolis, Atlantis, and even “check out the latest Justice League Dark content”. All told, DCUO features thirty iconic universes and more will be coming.
In addition to the Switch launch announcement, DGC also revealed the next two episodes coming later this year to DCUO: Metal Part 1 and Metal Part II. Part 1 will arrive in September with Part II coming in December.
“In Metal Part I, Batman has breached the barrier between our world and the Dark Multiverse, and then disappeared. In through the breach storm the Dark Knights, twisted versions of Batman hell-bent on revenge. In Metal Part II, the saga of the Dark Nights, the Dark Multiverse, and Metal will come to an explosive conclusion. ”

I’m reading precursory material that hints/leads up to “Metal” now, like Geoff Johns’ Hawkman
