Kojima Productions has announced Death Stranding 2 during The Game Awards 2022
The game Awards are over and alongside the newly delivered rewards, fans of Death Stranding were left basking in the glow of some huge news. Death Stranding 2 is already in production and will come to Sony’s PlayStation 5 console. Confirmed by Hideo Kojima alongside some early teaser video footage, the follow up to the very first in this duo of paranormal postie adventures will star the likes of Norman Reedus, Léa Seydoux, Elle Fanning, Shioli Kutsuna, and Troy Baker, as you’ll see from the trailer above.
The sequel seems to feature a similarly dystopian view of the future that the first did in our review, with desert landscapes and irregular monoliths towering over humanity. An older Sam also seems to feature, just ahead of a new road trip that we’re not even going to guess about. Plenty of other tidbits of lore are scattered throughout for fans to pick through, but we’re not going to go spoiling it.
The very first Death Stranding hit our screens in November 2019 and made its way from PS4 to PC in July 2020. Introducing players to a world where the United States lay in waste, and its population scattered and disconnected between coasts, it wove in gorgeous graphics and a myriad of unique narrative ideas that could easily be described as an auteur’s vision in digital. Thankfully this indescribable experience is available now across PC and PlayStation formats, with plenty of time to delve into the Director’s cut before taking on this new journey.
