HoYoverse has opened entries for Astra Carnival: The Prince Cup, the 2024 Genius Invokation tournament that come with sizable cash prizes.
The studio responsible for Genshin Impact, Honkai Star Rail and upcoming action brawler ZZZ seems set on taking on the likes of Gwent and Runeterra this year. After attending TwitchCon to play a few rounds, the 2024 edition of Astra Carnival is going big, with global sign ups, wildcard entries, and a $16,000 top prize.
Initially more of a Genshin Impact side quest than a fully-fledged card battler, Genius Invokation is the core of the Astra Carnival. The mini game dropped into Genshin Impact as part of Update 3.3 and challenges players to go one on one in a tabletop PvP battle. Featuring fan favorite characters, skills, and in game items it proved particularly popular.
All The Rounds
Now you can prove all that time sunk into Genius Invokation is worth it. Players proving their worth will be divided up into Atlantic and Pacific region zones, with 3 distinct stages of play.
- Wild Card seems to be open to all and begins on 26 May 2024. Over two days, players will go head-to-head in a single elimination round, registering a game online. As things progress the best open attendees will be decided using a BoE3 Swiss Style system, with the top 8 players heading into the regular season play.
- Regular Season play will consist of roughly 5 weeks of action for each region, between Maay and July. The best 8 from the previous round and 24 from the Cat’s tail Selection competition will battle it out to find the top 8.
- Knockout kicks off across July and August, depending on your region. Offline best of 5 and beset of 7 are the name of the game, and the prizes are worth the nerves.
A prize pool of $60,000 per region is already allocated, and a sizeable $16000 for the champion of both Atlantic and Pacific zones.
