Goldeneye 007, the beloved bond shooter is about to bring the British Secret service to Xbox consoles with news of a new port.
Forget high definition unreal 5 powered hellscapes, Rare know what players really want, Oddjob and a controller that takes three hands to operate. If you remember getting to grips with Nintendo’s iconic N64 controller before dinner then you’ll likely love the news that Goldeneye 007 looks set to make the leap over to a new generation of consoles.
Thanks to tracking site TrueAchievements, it seems that developer Rare has clocked up achievements linked to a new remaster of Goldeneye, which supersedes the planned Xbox 360 version that never was. Player tags BIGsheep and Waylander73 show on the site, which happen to be tags belonging to at least two Rare staffers. What makes this likely to be an upcoming release is the full 1000g worth of goals, across 55 tasks, that are now live and linked to this potential release. We’re pretty convinced this is probably more than a bit of festive fun on an old internal build.
For those that never clutched an N64 controller or understand how overpowered Oddjob really was, then this is a chance to try out a genre classic that plunged players into the world of 007. Taking place across a range of environments vaguely connected to the eponymous action movie, this 3D FPS brought the action of PC deathmatches and local couch competitive play to legions of console players and looks likely to do so again with a few HD improvements.
