The developers of MMORPG Guild Wars 2 are continuing to tease the upcoming expansion Secrets of the Obscure, launching August 22nd. Players will discover a new threat to Tyria and get to enjoy Rift Hunting in order to stop it.
At launch, players will be able to find the Rifts in several zones including central Tyria, Cantha and the Crystal Desert. The enemies coming out of a rift scale with the size of the group fighting it.
“With the help of the Heart of the Obscure, you’ll find nascent rifts across Tyria. Fully opening a rift will reveal Kryptis invaders who were roaming Tyria while hidden from sight. Defeat enough of them, and a more formidable champion will appear for you to face. Taking down the final Kryptis target will allow you to close the rift and will grant you Kryptis essence: powerful material you can use to craft weapons, armor, legendary armor, and bait to lure out deadlier Kryptis from rifts.”
Additionally, the developers introducing a new, streamlined method to unlock the Skyscale mount as well as new Masteries for flying mounts. Introduced four years ago, the Skyscale originally required a significant time and material investment to unlock. But in a story set in primarily aerial maps, the team decided to add a parallel path.
