Keen Games, the studio behind the critically acclaimed Portal Knights, has announced its next project, Enshrouded. The game is a multiplayer survival RPG for up to sixteen players. It’s set in an abandoned realm and pits players against marauding hordes of monsters and a mysterious fog that destroys all it touches. According to the developers, the game is being prepared for a Steam early access launch in 2023.
Developers marked this huge announcement by releasing a trailer introducing viewers to the game. Locations and gameplay elements are showcased as well as a number of features.
Players, or “Flameborn,” are tasked with hunting, gathering, and crafting a world in which they can survive. Along the way, they’ll have to fight off fell creatures and merciless bosses. Crafting will allow players to create armor and weapons worthy of the task.
Features include
- Survival & Exploration: Survive and conquer Embervale, a vast open world full of mutated creatures, mysteries, and secrets to discover.
- ARPG Combat: Play as the Flameborn and battle the Fiends, Fell, and other corrupted creatures. Learn their tactical schemes, upgrade your character’s skills, and battle the hordes of enemies to dispel the Shroud.
- Boss Battles: Face the scourges of Embervale by challenging the faction’s monstrous leaders. You’ll need courage and your mythical weapons to triumph over them.
- Crafting & Base Building: Rescue legendary artisans, discover long-lost recipes, and build awe-inspiring homes designed to the last detail and shape the world’s terrain to your liking.
- Character Customisation: Personalize your character and appearance, and upgrade your weapons and armor in Enshrouded’s extensive crafting system.
