Magic: Legends devs show off Diablo-like gameplay

Cryptic Studios has sent out an awesome new trailer showcasing gameplay from its upcoming multiplayer ARPG, Magic: Legends. As the title implies, the game is based on the wildly popular Magic: The Gathering franchise and marks the first time the game’s lore has been “translated” into an online multiplayer game.

The video shows off a gameplay style that should be immediately familiar to fans of the Diablo series. It features top-down isometric action. Players will build a deck using a dozen cards that provide four active abilities and eight passive abilities. The video shows how the cards are cycled during battle.

Magic: Legends is coming to PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One sometime in 2020. You can learn more (such as it is at the moment) by visiting the official site and by keeping tabs on GameInformer.com as they reveal more about the game throughout January.

  1. I have to say that this gameplay trailer got my attention. I love the franchise and it looks like it’s shaping up well for an ARPG. I’ll be keeping watch!

  2. I love me some ARPG so this is on my radar now. The deck of abilities seems like a nice way to integrate MtG into the game, hopefully the system works well.
