Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, the newest DLC for Capcom’s title, has an unexpected challenge as players are finding bugs deleting their games.

When Monster Hunter World: Iceborne hit PC storefronts last week, fans of the huge open-world RPG were tooled up and ready to take on a new winter challenge but this isn’t quite what anybody was expecting. Widely reported on Reddit, many players booting up into this new DLC are finding that the game is unceremoniously deleting their saved progress.

When opening the game, many consumers are reporting that Cpacom’s title performs a save file check but in some instances, things are not going to plan. When it errors, and throws a message to report that “no compatible save was found”, the title will then proceed to create a new game and overwrite the existing saved game. For players with PCs, we’re all very used to dealing with broken hard drives and corrupt game files. It’s recommended that while this is investigated, that you create a backup of your save file, whether it is using the community tool or backup software from another company. There’s a lot of speculation over what might be causing the issue with theories from add on mods being the likely suspect right now.

The recent Reddit reports are specific tot he PC release of this DLC. After the initial launch of Monster Hunter World, which we loved in our review, on Playstation 4 and Xbox One in 2018, PC players have had a wait to get in on the monster-slaying action. Despite this issue, the response to the original release and this DLC has been positive on all fronts, picking up several RPG of the year award nominations. If you are prepared for winter then you can pick up Monster Hunter World: Iceborne on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One now.
