Standing Stone Games and Daybreak Games have announced that the next Lord of the Rings Online expansion is now up for pre-order. The LOTRO story takes a side journey to follow the exploits of Boromir in Before the Shadow. The expansion’s content is focused on early levels of the game and offers new and veteran MMO players new content to explore.
Developers consider Before the Shadow to be a “mini-expansion” that sends players off to two new regions. Swanfleet and Cardolan are up for exploration as players work alongside Boromir on his way to Rivendell. Savvy players will understand that he’s headed off to a meeting with others, eventually becoming the Fellowship of the Ring. Wise players will be looking for the Nazgul as they search for “Baggins.”
Features include:
- Questing from levels 1 to 32 in addition to four new Books for new characters
- Two new regions: Swanfleet and Cardolan
- A new Six-person Instance
- A new Skirmish
- A new Delving difficulty system: Higher-level characters can increase the difficulty of new missions to earn great rewards!
- New Themed Missions Wrapper: Earn rewards by completing daily and weekly rotating Missions!
The expansion pre-order includes three different versions, each with its own set of in-game perks and goodies. The Standard Edition is $19.99. The Collector’s Edition is $59.99 and the Ultimate Fan Bundle is $99.99. The team has provided the community with a detailed FAQ about the pre-order.
