En Garde! is about to leap into adventure, when it swashbucklers onto PCs during August. Due to unsheathe all its content on 16 August, this brand-new game from indie French studio Fireplace Games has been on all our radars since it cut through the noise and impressed during Next Fest.
Soon, players will be able to step into the shoes of Adalia de Volador, a renowned hero, in a whimsical rendition of 17th century Spain. Full of charm and without any sense whatsoever, this hero must undo the machinations of the cruel Count-Duke. It’s not simple the aim to thwart evil in this realm, however. You need to do it with style! By fighting with flair, exchanging attacks, parrying, and riposting against opponents, players can fill their Panache Meter and unlock special skills. By uncovering enemy weaknesses and pressing forward with the unexpected, you’ll overcome hordes of scoundrels, guards, and villainous nobles.
User cunning, improvisation, and even environmental objects along the way to take down these enemies in the game’s upcoming story mode or take on Arena Mode, where they’ll waves of diverse enemies with unique modifiers appear. En Garde! doesn’t just play the part, it looks it too. A blend of blend of humour, thrilling action, and hand painted theatrics means this is indie darling easily evokes Monkey Island, Princess Bride, and many more charming adventures hijinks.
