Studio Wildcard has announced the return of the annual Winter Wonderland in-game event in ARK – Survival Evolved. From now through January 5, 2023 players can enjoy a host of fun holiday-themed content. This includes loot-filled gifts, boosted rates, and a whopping dozen new chibis from the epic extravaganza.
RaptorClaus will be sailing across the star-filled night sky in his sleigh, dropping off presents filled with high-end loot as well as Mistletoe, and Coal for those naughty Survivors. You’ll be able to catch RaptorClaus flying across the skies at midnight (game time) on all maps.
GachaClaus is also making a triumphant return to help RaptorClaus spread the holiday cheer! GachaClaus will be roaming all maps looking for eager recipients while sporting holiday-themed colors. He will be accepting your coal and in exchange will gift you holiday-themed items, or you can trade-in your mistletoe and coal for skins, costumes, weapons, armor, or 12 new Chibis!
ARK devs take a peek into the past…and the future
In addition to the fun holiday happenings, developers celebrated some of 2022’s biggest achievements. For the first time ever, Nintendo Switch players will enjoy a holiday-themed event, and their version of the game is now at parity with other versions. In October, the Expanded Story Content Update went live on Nintendo Switch and is now included in the PC, Xbox, and PlayStation versions. This massive update introduced a series of new intro and ending cinematics for each map as well as the community-requested Scorched Earth Ascension cinematics. Players working through older content will notice new voice-overs from David Tennant and Madeleine Madden.
To wrap up 2022, players are invited to try out the Survival of the Fittest Crossplay Prototype event starting December 23rd. This event has been retooled from the ground up with new mechanics as players battle others to be the last one standing. Players can jump into the PC version of this event with the console version set to launch later.
