Listen to bob’s Tall Tales and embrace the Scorched Earth DLC in the latest Ark: Survival Ascended
Scavengers, survivors, and players escaping to the lands of Ark: Survival Ascended might already know the name Bob. Now, you can get to know this seemingly iconic name thanks to the developers Studio Wildcard and Karl Urban. The Bob’s Tall Tales and Scorched Earth DLC are both available right now.
Spinning off from a recent Ark animated event, the Bob’s Tall Tales addition provides players with a new way to follow the animated adventures of Bob. The face behind Dredd and a certain Mr Butcher now adds talent to a new tale of an icon in the franchise. Players will be able to piece together Bob’s larger-than-life ARK saga by recovering his animated Explorer Notes! Follow this pivotal character as he describes his absolutely pivotal, undeniably central role in ARK’s history to young Meeka — voiced by Auliʻi Cravalho.
Bob Who?
Admittedly, Bob is something of a new addition to the Ark universe. Between the dinosaurs and high-tech weaponry, Bob is a slang term normally reserved for lowbie players out in the sands. Instead, Ark has co-opted the name and turned it into a seeping spectacle of incredibly true adventures that take place across The Island, Scorched Earth, Aberration, and Extinction!
These tall tales unlock over a period of time, giving anybody capable of surviving the Arks new and returning options. Frontier Showdown is the first of these, taking a western vibe and giving us the option to new Western-style structures like your own rootin’ tootin’ saloon, then tickle the ivories on your own piano for an authentic frontier experience. Hunt for buried treasure with your trusty shovel, tame hardy new creatures to pull your configurable wagon, and even hop aboard a chugging steam train to explore those harsh badlands! Future instalments will add wasteland and steampunk twists, but you’ll have to wait until later this year to find out what that means.
For those looking to go all in and get everything available then the Scorched Earth DLC is also available to purchase. Adventurers can pick it up on Steam, Xbox and PlayStation stores as part of the ARK: Survival Evolved Season Pass. The new expansion unlocks a desert setting split across six different biomes. These each come with their own creatures, crafts, and distinct environmental challenges. As always, everything is out to get you. With over 50 new items, the camel-like Morellatops, elemental Wyvern, and the dangerous Death Worm waiting, who wouldn’t want to jump in?
