Jagex has announced that both RuneScape and Old School RuneScape are making the jump to Steam. For nearly 20 years, the venerated MMOs have only been available through the official site. Starting October 14th, RuneScape will make its debut on Steam with the Old School version coming along in 2021.
Phil Mansell, Jagex CEO, said: “Jagex is on a mission to bring the RS universe to more players globally. Following our games’ arrival on mobile stores, we are now expanding the availability of the desktop versions. Making them accessible to the Steam community is an important step in achieving this goal. We’re excited to see RS debut on Steam from October 14th and look forward to OSRS’s arrival next year, as we enable even more gamers to access and explore our rich and engaging living game worlds.”
Steam players will join the nearly 285 million players who have played the games since launch. Both games are enjoying a renaissance period with player membership at its highest level ever earlier in 2020.
