Nothing says success like millions of players taking part in a game. Rare has announced that over 10 million players have set sail in Sea of Thieves since launch. The numbers come via the Xbox Game Pass, Xbox One, and Windows 10 PC and the game is considered the most successful new IP for Xbox Games Studios this generation.
To celebrate the big numbers, SoT Producer Joe Niete posted a blog post to thank the community for its support. “For everyone at Rare, the Sea of Thieves community represents the very best of what gaming can be. It’s home to players from more than eighty different countries, bringing together gamers on Xbox Game Pass, Xbox One and Windows 10 PC and creating countless stories and moments that people can treasure. Seeing these stories shared through social media or other community spaces is something that inspires the team every day. To every person who’s played Sea of Thieves, thank you.”
Niete also provided a few details about the next update coming to SoT. Called “Legends of the Sea”, the content expansion is expected to set sail on January 15th. It is said to “celebrate our community and its stories” with players also taking home a pair of nifty in-game limited-edition gifts to mark the momentous occasion of 10M players.
