If fans were hoping for a Skyrim remastered edition or perhaps a new game set in the Skyrim universe, last night’s announcement that the best-beloved setting in the entire franchise is coming to Elder Scrolls Online might feel a wee bit disappointing. Now that the Season of the Dragon and the Elsweyr expansion are drawing to a close, it’s time for the popular MMORPG to move on to new environs so why not Skyrim? The new content will give players more to explore and much more depth of lore than Eastmarch and The Rift that are already present in the game.
Zenimax Online has stated that more about the upcoming content expansion will be revealed on January 16, 2020 at a special event in Las Vegas but we do know that the new Skyrim content will be coming in 2020 as well with content probably beginning to roll out in Q2 if it follows the pattern of earlier expansions. Beyond that, all we know for the time being is that players will be sent on a journey to “explore the dark heart of Skyrim”.
