Wonderboy: The Dragon’s Trap lands on Xbox, PS4, and Switch April 18th

1989 never looked so good.

DotEMU and Lizardcube’s faithful re-imagining of Wonderboy is almost here. Today, the French publisher and developer announced that Wonderboy: The Dragon’s Trap lands on Xbox, PS4, and Switch April 18th. It’s also scheduled for a PC release just a few weeks later, though no firm date is set for that.

It’s a slick looking re-imagining of the 1989 title, and as an added bonus? You can actually still use your 1989 SEGA Master System passcodes if you remember them. You can also swap between the beautiful hand-drawn 2D graphics of today and the original 8-bit visual styling fans remember well.

What is Wonderboy: The Dragon’s Trap?

Boasting beautiful, hand-drawn animations and a re-orchestrated soundtrack, the cult classic returns with a unique blend of exploration, action, and adventure. Play as Lizard-Man, Mouse-Man, Piranha-Man, Lion-Man, and Hawk-Man, and use their unique abilities to uncover the land’s deepest secrets. Switch in real-time between the original retro graphics and the visually stunning modern remake, and input your old Sega Master System passcode to unlock all of your old saves and progression – just how you left them in 1989.
