Yolk Heroes Whisks Up A Release Date

Yolk Heroes

Crack shells and save the world when Yolk Heroes arrives on 19 March.

Tamagotchi inspired idle RPG, Yolk Heroes, is coming to Steam, itch.io, Google Play Store, and App Store on March 19th. After an announcement back in May 2023, indie dev 14 Hours Productions is now ready to trust us with the most important job a hero could have. Getting through those testy teenage years.

Anybody brave enough to take on this monochromatic RPG will find themselves playing as a guardian spirit created by the Fairy Queen. Fortunately for you that doesn’t mean taking down evil. It’s a little more laid back. In this land it is your job to raise the world’s fearless fighters. Assuming you get them all the way to adulthood, then they can go die in chasing some swamp monster.

Yolk Heroes seems to take the pet simulator concept and really ruins with it. After hatching a hero, you’ll need to guide it through various stages of infancy, eventually moving from simply feeding the thing to training it to be a beacon of justice. You’ll be able to play games, practice skills, equip weapons, and eventually send them on quests to save the realm. That might sound a little overwhelming, but don’t worry. Raising, feeding, cleaning and even questing with your little elf is all done at a fairly leisurely real-time pace. Yolk Heroes is a cozy experience and certainly stands out  from your regular Sims. All you’ll need to save the world is plenty of eggs and the time to check in intermittently on those happy and healthy heroes.

The world is in danger, and we all need a hero. Time to step up and shove some poor uneducated soul out to face the darkness first. You can check out more about this adorable mix of ideas over on the Yolk Heroes Steam Store page now.

For those of you who I’ve not met yet, my name is Ed. After an early indoctrination into PC gaming, years adrift on the unwashed internet, running a successful guild, and testing video games, I turned my hand to writing about them. Now, you will find me squawking across a multitude of sites and even getting to play games now and then
