Chernobylite, the disturbing supernatural survival adventure with real life backdrops is back in the exclusion zone and dropping new content for Season, titled 2 Red Trees.
Between the other worlds, monstrous creatures, and eerier portals in Chernobylite, Season 2 has slipped a bunch of new content into this spooky survival. Developer Farm 51 has kicked off a new season of mystery with the opportunity to discover more secrets about the dark setting of the game, learn previously unknown facts, and try out new game modes.
The story of Igor, a scientist who returns to the site of a nuclear meltdown to find his partner’s fate, add in a bunch of new content with the new season, and a ton of it is already live. A new VR set in Igor’s base is probably the most notable change. This new system will allow players to play a game inside the game, introducing a new, roguelike inspired, mode – VR Games. Inside this virtual environment, central protagonist Igor will travel arenas of a fractal world with randomly generated weapons, skills and enemies. All you have to do is to make sure he gets out without being beaten by what’s inside the Vr realm. In an unexpected twist, NPCs that join the game are influenced by Igor’s relationship with the same faces out in the rest of the game world too, so don’t stay in playing video games for too long.
Season 2 also expands on the main story missions, adding 6 new story missions. The Ghosts of the past expansion sees Tatyana manifesting in Igor’s dreams, setting off a chain of events that ends up in new locations within the exclusion zone.
This much discussed zone is a huge part of Chernobylite and is based on real scans of the Chornobyl disaster zone, long since abandoned by humanity. It’s a haunting setting for this title that we’ve been following for some time now and the new Red Trees skin will add something of a nod to Chornobyl’s infamous Red Forest too. The new updates to this location are not all that Season 2 is bringing to the table and you can check out everything that is coming over on the official website now.
