Cyberpunk Gun Fu Adventure SPINE Follows Lara and Sonic to the Big Screen.

SPINE - redline sits in the rain

Story Kitchen, the media company that pushed Sonic The Hedgehog onto celluloid have penned a deal to develop a feature film out of SPINE. Developer Nekki and the franchise building team at Story Kitchen announced the news today, brining gun fu action a combat enhanced street artist, and an autocratic AI regime out beyond the game.

Don’t expect to see a big budget John Wick-esque feature any time soon. SPINE isn’t even out yet, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see the title’s protagonist centre stage. The upcoming action adventure follows street artist Redline. This graffiti wielding youngster is somehow accompanied by a sentient combat implant. Something tells me the rumours of an opposition to harmony of an AI overlord are true, and they aren’t about painting banners. Players taking up the struggle for free can check out the recent trailers below and check out the mix of cinematic gunplay and close-combat beat ’em up as Redline cuts through enemies.

Story kitchen describes itself as a ‘dynamic media company passionate about universe building and franchise architecture; specializing in the adaptation of videogames and other ‘non-traditional’ IP into Film/TV.’ It’s been involved in the likes of the Sonic movies, the imminent Tomb Raider animated release on Netflix, and more.

“When we first learned of the upcoming game from Nekki, we lost our collective minds and had to find a way to partner,” said the team at Story Kitchen. “SPINE, with its main character ‘Redline’, could not be more badass!”

If you need to catch up on SPINE before the future gets here then you can check out the ongoing webtoon or head over to the Steam Store page before it arrives on PC, consoles, and elsewhere.
