Blizzard developers have issued a mea culpa about the recently released (and disastrous) Season of the Malignant update for Diablo 4. With astonishing candor, the team revealed that it has heard players loud and clear and that they know that this update has “essentially removed fun” by nerfing character abilities that have drastically slowed the game down for many. During a “Campfire Chat” held late last week after the season launch, the team went on record to say that the game will never “ever again” receive such a catastrophic update.
Developers said:
We’ve been hearing a lot of feedback regarding the patch, and we’re telling you guys now we hear you loud and clear. We don’t plan on doing patches like that ever again. We’re not going to be, essentially ‘removing the fun’ drastically for players. And if we do that for any type of class, a build or whatnot, we’ll make sure there’s always some really good alternatives for players to actually try out a different build that will also be boosted way back up, to help out and give players other options to jump into.
And we will, ourselves, do a better job, of course, communicating back to the community. Again, what we’re saying now is we will be getting patch notes in front of the community way earlier… so that you guys can a better chance looking at patch notes beforehand, seeing any changes that might be coming down beforehand. Because I think communication was key here, I think you guys not seeing what we were planning on doing and us giving that vision really affected a lot of the response from you guys.
Developers are asking players to give them their trust as they forge ahead with the v1.1 update that is planned to come soon. Most of the contents of 1.1 will be in response to community feedback on the disastrous, as brutal as it has been.
