Grime just got a release date and this unforgiving side scroller is set to mutate onto PC and Stadia on 2 August.

Developer Clover Bite and publisher Akupara Games just announced that their hellishly unusual new action adventure RPG is set to thrust players into a new dawn on a twisted world when it releases on PC and Stadia in just over a month’s time. Taking control of a black hole with legs, players picking up Grime will find themselves using a living weapon to explore an alien world, filled with surreal backdrops, strange locals, and terrifying enemies. As you hack, slash, and crush your way through the exotic beasts that stand before you, you’ll consume the many enemies you encounter, and use their own traits against them as you let yourself become far more than you once were.

While the power behind this anthropomorphic stellar entity might seem pretty plain at first, plenty of upgrades and abilities are available to absorb. When not taking a look at the few remaining inhabitants of this realm, Players can seamlessly swap between weapons made of living creatures that mutate form during combat, from clawing swords to centipede whips. The fast paced combat is made even more challenging by some seriously menacing boss encounters, each with their own abilities for you to overcome and add to your own.

Grime is an undeniably unique looking title with a surreal aesthetic all its own. If you haven’t’ had an opportunity to take a look at what’s coming, then check out the official website for a peek at a world even Akupara’s Darkside Detective might just decide to pass on. Grime will arrive on Google Stadia and PC, via Steam for $24.99 or local equivalent.
