New Deceive Inc. Dev Diary Explores Its Unique Hybrid Action

Deceive Inc.

Tripwire Presents and Sweet Bandits Studios have released a brand new video developer diary for Deceive Inc. In it, the team discusses how they have taken a wide variety of genres and combined them into something unique. Social steal, fast-paced action, and “super spy shooter” features work together in a 70s spy-movie-inspired game.

The developers at Sweet Bandit Studios also speak to the challenges of finding the right partner as an independent studio and the difference between traditional publishers and publishers who are game developers who support their vision for a new approach to multiplayer that stands in a class of its own. The creators also dive deep into the inspirations behind the game, with the goal of making each player feel like they are in a spy-vs-spy action movie from the ‘70s with a plethora of modern and futuristic gadgets to play with. The video takes a closer look at the gameplay design for DECEIVE INC., which mixes stealth and action into a devilishly tense game of cat-and-mouse between each spy, where every person, or object, on the map can be a threat to escaping with the objective.

The game centers on a private corporation with a monopoly on the international espionage market. Players can disguise themselves as anyone they meet in order to squeeze secrets from others. The game offers a number of state-of-the-art gadgets, and players possess the skills to use them. This is the stuff Hollywood films are made of.

Features include:

  • Rival spies are after the same objectives and are as skilled, cunning, and well-equipped as players.
  • Blend in, grab the objective and break out.
  • Only one spy can complete the mission and get a paycheck.
  • Choose from a roster of diverse agents with unique weapons and skills
  • Create loadouts from highly versatile gadgets
  • Disguise yourself as any guest thanks to a high-tech holographic
  • Infiltrate locations packed with suspicious people

It is being prepared for PC via Steam and Epic Games Store as well as Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5. Alpha testing is expected to begin soon, though no release information has been revealed.
