In an unexpected move, the Overwatch team has presented the first short story titled Bastet, dedicated to our battle grandma Ana and her old comrades Jack “Soldier 76” Morrison and Gabriel “Reaper” Reyes.

The events of the short story seem to be happening right after the comic aptly named Old Soldiers and dedicated to the first meeting of Ana, Soldier 76 and Reaper in many years since the fall of Overwatch. You can find it and the rest of the comics here.
In addition to a juicy bunch of lore, Bastet has also revealed that Soldier 76 had a relationship with a lad called Vincent but in the end, he has made a choice of his career over love.
Thanks for all the messages about “Bastet”!
Jack and Vincent were in a romantic relationship many years ago. Both identify as gay. ❤️

Unsurprisingly, the Internet has lost its collective cool over this little revelation. Some players lament about their “main” being ruined and threaten to uninstall the game while others celebrate and fist pump.
Blizzard has also announced the beginning of a special event:
Relive the legacy of a fierce protector in Ana’s short story “Bastet” in-game and online by unlocking Ana-themed cosmetics including sprays, a player icon, a victory pose, and a new epic skin from now through January 21.
