Pocket Playfest Winter Edition Is an Indie Mobile Extravaganza

Check out the TapTap Pocket Playfest Winter Edition this weekend and try out a smorgasbord of new mobile indie titles

TapTap, the gaming community turned mobile gaming marketplace launches an online indie celebration on 23 December 2023. Beginning this weekend and running for 16 days, the Pocket Playfest Winter Edition is a celebration of everything indie on mobile. It is set to highlight some of the best new and upcoming titles, allowing indie developers to highlight their games and let players dabble without having to chew up all that precious storage space.

During the Playfest, indie game developers will showcase their titles on the TapTap mobile platform. Players will be able to play and discuss original indie games that have been ported for the very first time on mobile before anyone else. This means that than head over to other app stores and spend time chewing up their bandwidth and storage, games can be streamed directly in the TapTap app. No waiting, no slowdown. All you need is a stable internet connection an iOS or Android device, and the time to try out everything.

Playing Means Prizes

Over sixteen days, the indies involved will be able to go head to head in a competition to find the community favorite. Each day, participants will be able to play two games and vote for the best. The winner of each round will advance until the finals, held on January the 7th, where the winner will claim the Players’ Choice award for the Pocket Playfest. We already know that we can expect the following to try:

  • Giga Bash (by Passion Republic Games) a multiplayer arena brawler with gigantic
film-inspired kaiju, larger than life heroes, earth-shattering special attacks and fully destructible
    environments.
  • Minds Beneath Us (by BearBone Studio) a story-rich sci-fi thriller adventure game set in a
    futuristic Asian city.
  • Devil Slayer – Raksasi (by GlassesCatGames) a top-down action game with procedurally
generated dungeons, roguelike elements and intuitive soul-like fighting.
  • Pesticide Not Required (by Jampacked Games) a bullet heaven, horde survival roguelite
with farming elements that offers a myriad of stats and special character traits to create wildly
    diverse run possibilities.

This the second time that TapTap has geared up for a Pocket Playfest. Initially trialled back in June 2023 with its own take on the Steam Next Fest format, it featured the likes of Persona 5: The Phantom X. Now, there’s no telling what familiar names we might see. We know a sack load more developers are due to enter the arena by Saturday, so you’ll have to head over to the TapTap website to check out what’s new this weekend.
